LG Business Solutions USA has introduced LG Business Cloud, a robust web-application platform that consolidates the capabilities of LG’s Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions into a single platform.

LG Business Cloud enables customers to establish a highly secure common point of access for their LG digital signage devices using a straightforward, one-time sign-up process. User privilege, access control and single sign-on (SSO), license management, site and location structure are all designed to be easy to use yet flexible for the largest deployment.

“LG has long been a leader in providing intuitive, scalable software and platform solutions to help integrators and their customers remotely monitor and manage digital signage networks as well as distribute and customize content,” said LG Business Solutions USA Senior Vice President Michael Kosla. “Now, the launch of the LG Business Cloud puts all the tools they need to manage these services in one place, with clear value propositions and a consolidated platform experience.”

Kosla added that the company’s focus on software and services, which supports LG’s global transformation into a Smart Life Solutions company beyond a hardware manufacturer, provides significant benefits to commercial display customers. The LG Business Cloud is a multi-service SaaS cloud platform that provides integrators and business owners simple access to the powerful capabilities of LG ConnectedCare, LG Pro:Centric Cloud, LG Pro:Centric Stay and LG SuperSign Cloud. By eliminating the need to install and manage on-site servers and software running on the servers, each service helps businesses further reduce up-front costs and long-term maintenance requirements.

LG SuperSign Cloud

LG SuperSign Cloud is a powerful content management system (CMS) designed to boost a retailer’s digital signage campaigns by providing “anywhere, anytime” control of content, remote control of individual displays or the entire network of displays to set on/off scheduling and make real-time changes to content. The software enables easy uploading and distribution of content as well as expert-level editing tools, including music selection.

SuperSign Cloud users can also enhance their content creation using third-party design templates, digital art, and even live on-screen presentation of social media feeds. For example, the specialized DSmenu service allows users to easily create digital menu boards, while PosterMyWall helps users design eye-catching promotional materials — each offering incredible value to retail and food establishments that require frequent updates. The ArtPlayer service grants access to an array of digital art, while Screenfeed enables companies to simply and cleanly display Instagram feeds through digital signage. Wantreez Music provides expertly curated playlists that harmonize with on-screen content to elevate ambiance in a variety of settings.

LG Pro:Centric Stay

With the new LG Pro:Centric Stay platform, LG offers short-term rental property managers and owners a powerful cloud-based TV content distribution and management solution, using powerful tools to create personalized guest experiences for on-premise TVs. The platform makes these powerful capabilities available to virtually any size short-term rental hosts to multinational ”staycation” businesses. It’s easy to create welcome pages, local guides and custom content through Pro:Centric’s familiar drag-and-drop interface that includes widgets such as weather, maps, flight information and more.

LG ConnectedCare

LG ConnectedCare is a network manager’s best friend, offering extremely powerful tools to ensure consistent operation of the entire network of displays regardless of deployment size or variety of displays. This is an active monitoring service that automatically sends alert emails to preset recipients for more than 20 common operations errors, and enables remote adjustments to resolve issues and fine tune device settings.

The main selling point is the ability to eliminate or greatly reduce screen down time, which can directly affect a property’s revenue and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the ability to manage multiple devices at once reduces labor time and boosts efficiency when enacting changes or updates.

“Each of these cloud-based services provides high-value functions, efficiency gains and up-front cost savings to help businesses maximize guest experiences, revenues and communication opportunities,” Kosla said. “With the new consolidated user experience unveiled at InfoComm, the LG Business Cloud can be a game-changer for commercial integrators and their customers.”

XM Cyber announced new features to enhance exposure management for SAP deployments. XM Cyber offers ongoing visibility into attack paths targeting SAP systems and provides guidance to mitigate these risks. With SAP Exposure Management, organizations can better protect and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of their SAP systems, which are essential for core business operations.

SAP Exposure Management came as a result of an analysis conducted by the XM Cyber team, in collaboration with our SAP customers, focused on how attackers could target and compromise the SAP environment. From this research, XM Cyber identified multiple attack techniques, all specific to SAP environments. These techniques are exploited in the wild and represent a real risk to business operation continuity and are focused on recent versions of SAP actively in use by enterprises. Beyond these specific attack techniques, SAP environments are also often compromised by regular hygiene issues, such as misconfigurations and credential abuse, which form attack paths. Together, this ability to prioritize the most potentially damaging attack paths, enhanced with specific SAP attack techniques, enables Security and IT teams to better protect their business-critical assets.

The XM Cyber Continuous Exposure Management platform further provides security and IT teams with the detailed guidance needed to address the risks before an attack. By extending XM Cyber’s industry-leading XM Attack Graph Analysis™ to SAP, organizations can now visualize risks to their SAP deployments and their entire hybrid environment and intelligently prioritize remediation based on potential impact to these business critical assets. This unified view drives efficiency and efficacy for Security and IT teams.

Key benefits of XM Cyber’s SAP Exposure Management include:

  • Continuous Exposure Identification: XM Cyber identifies and prioritizes exposures in SAP ERP systems.
  • Attack Graph Analysis™: By mapping attack paths and identifying exposures targeting SAP systems, XM Cyber’s platform provides organizations with comprehensive visibility into potential attack vectors and to analyze impact and identify choke points for efficient remediation of risk.
  • Continuous Monitoring and Optimization: XM Cyber’s platform offers continuous monitoring, allowing organizations to adapt their security posture dynamically and stay ahead of evolving cyber threats targeting SAP systems.
  • Guided Remediation: XM Cyber delivers guidance into patching, alternative remediation options, and system hardening to provide the most effective remediation.

“SAP is how businesses get things done,” said Boaz Gorodissky, CTO and Co-Founder at XM Cyber. “If your SAP environment is compromised, you lose control of your data and you lose the ability to generate revenue. It’s why XM Cyber prioritized addressing the attack techniques that target SAP environments.”

XM Cyber’s SAP attack technique mitigation gives security teams the visibility required to quantify risk to their production systems. By identifying these critical vulnerabilities and attack vectors, XM Cyber is equipping organizations with the knowledge and tools necessary to fortify their SAP environments against these emerging threats.

SoftServe has launched the “SoftServe Master Key,” the first accelerator accessible through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace and Pegasystems (Pega), the top provider of enterprise AI and workflow automation platforms. This tool helps businesses achieve advanced automation and specialized AI and machine learning (ML) services. The Master Key accelerator will debut on June 9 at PegaWorld iNspire 2024 as the first in a planned series of AWS-Pega integration connectors.

Developed by working with both AWS and Pega, SoftServe’s Master Key is designed to enable clients using both companies to connect any existing Pega applications to AWS AI and ML services or other AWS solutions. Combining Pega’s workflow automation with AWS analytics and AI services automates the steps an employee typically takes to validate information as more companies move their data to AWS.

“This ‘Master Key’ is the first step to combine AWS’ and Pega’s capabilities, doubling the methods of automation and AI functionalities available to all users,” said Todd Lenox, SoftServe’s SVP of Global Alliances & Partnerships. “The key allows users to automate even more internal work, freeing additional time to focus on paramount and rewarding tasks, as well as improve the accuracy and quality of their work by accessing a breadth of specialized AI services. As the first marketplace solution available to bridge this innovation between AWS and Pega, it has the potential to generate significantly more ROI for their customers.”

Companies using Pega to create personalized customer experiences, improve productivity, simplify regulatory compliance, and accelerate revenue growth through workflow automation can achieve more using SoftServe’s Master Key to connect insights generated within their AWS environment into their existing Pega application workflows. The key essentially allows Pega developers without AWS integration expertise to securely connect their applications to a large catalog of AWS services using the AWS Signature Version 4 standard, empowering Pega application users to complete more work in less time and with fewer errors.

“Enabling our customers to more easily integrate Pega into their AWS services creates tremendous opportunity for cross-platform value creation,” said Judy Buchholz, senior vice president, global partner ecosystems at Pegasystems. “Imagine seeing a potentially significant increase in automation and business processes. This – or any result gained from improved automation – could translate into more capacity to engage with customers, deepen AI knowledge and skills, or handle other critical priorities and strategic initiatives. SoftServe’s Master Key creates a potent combination for doing more impactful work.”

As one of the inaugural AWS Partners to achieve the AWS Generative AI Competency, SoftServe adds another layer of expertise for clients to effectively use and harness the benefits of connecting automation and AI functionalities from both platforms.

SoftServe’s Master Key solution accelerator will be available via the AWS Marketplace and Pega Marketplace at the start of PegaWorld iNspire 2024, happening June 9-11 in Las Vegas. To learn more about SoftServe’s Master Key solution accelerator, visit the webpage here.

The use of mobile apps from auto manufacturers is on the rise, with 90% of electric vehicle (EV) owners reporting usage, up from 88% in 2023 and 81% in 2022, according to the J.D. Power 2024 US OEM EV App Report. Significantly, 67% of EV owners use their brand’s app at least half of the time they drive, emphasizing the importance of a well-designed EV mobile app that addresses primary needs such as charging capability, vehicle status, and remote control functionality.

The following are some key findings of the 2024 US OEM EV App Report:

  • App connectivity focused: Although the percentage of EV owners who experienced a connection problem (38%) is flat year over year, the experience between non-Tesla and Tesla owners is more revealing. While 40% of non-Tesla EV owners say they experienced a connection problem—down from 44% a year ago—35% of Tesla owners say they experienced a connection-related problem—up from 30% in 2023 and 20% in 2022. This problematic trend may suggest that increasing app usage is straining Tesla’s app network capacity.
  • Feature driven: The report shows that top-performing brands are addressing the needs and features desired by owners, such as the ability to accurately monitor an active charge; set charging preferences (e.g., maximum state of charge, charging schedules, departure timers); and plug and charge integration for an enhanced public charging experience. Of the 25 most common app features, 20 are cited as desirable by more than 70% of EV owners, with all but one charging-related feature having higher desirability than in previous years.
  • Continuing effect on EV shoppers: Nearly two-thirds (62%) of Tesla owners say availability of a smartphone app had at least a moderate effect on their purchase decision, up from 59% in 2023. Among non-Tesla owners, only 34% say a smartphone app had at least a moderate effect on their purchase decision. Furthermore, 21% of Tesla owners say it had a major effect vs. just 8% among non-Tesla EV owners. This suggests that OEMs must do a better job of communicating the availability and feature content of their smartphone apps to help attract interested EV shoppers.
  • Dealership effect on satisfaction: Nearly three-fourths (72%) of EV owners say they received some type of assistance from the dealership with the app, an increase of 2 percentage points from 2023. Nearly 88% of premium brand owners (excluding Tesla) say they received dealership support vs. 74% of mass market EV owners. Owners who received assistance from their dealership are more likely to use the app and to be satisfied with it than those who did not.

“The overall experience and performance of electric vehicle mobile apps has improved year over year, as manufacturers continue to identify areas of opportunity, including feature contenting, usability and overall connectivity,” said Jason Norton, director of benchmark consulting at J.D. Power. “However, a continued focus on the specific needs of EV owners is needed to further improve the user experience and trust.”

Report Rankings

Tesla ranks highest overall and highest in the premium brand segment of EV mobile apps, with a score of 847 (on a 1,000-point scale). Mercedes me connect(843) ranks second and My BMW (834) ranks third.

MyHyundai with Bluelink ranks highest in the mass market segment of EV mobile apps, with a score of 835. Kia Access(829) ranks second and FordPass (810) ranks third.

The 2024 US OEM EV App Report, now in its fourth year, gauges EV owners’ experience with their brand’s mobile app. Insights are derived from surveying EV owners and an assessment of the most relevant EV mobile apps. Results are based on a standardized assessment approach relying on more than 350 best practices for vehicle apps that include more than 70 EV-specific attributes.

The report includes apps from the top 25 award-eligible brands that sell EVs in the United States; 10 profiled EV brands in China; and nine profiled EV brands in Europe. Additionally, almost 1,300 EV owners in the United States were surveyed in April-May 2024 to gather insights on app usage; feature desirability; and app overall execution for the 2024 report.

Leostream™ has revealed its plans to broaden its range of solutions by partnering with Amazon to incorporate and distribute NICE DCV, Amazon’s cutting-edge remote display and streaming protocol, as part of Leostream’s product lineup. This advanced DCV protocol is specifically designed for environments demanding high-performance graphics, suitable for deployment on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon WorkSpaces Core, and any other on-premises or cloud environment supported by Leostream.

DCV is designed to securely deliver remote desktops and application streaming from AWS or a data center to the end user’s device, enabling even graphics-intensive applications to display remotely without high-end workstations. The DCV streaming protocol integrates with the Leostream Remote Desktop Access Platform to allow high-performance computing (HPC) and sophisticated imaging/video applications, running on both Windows and Linux, to be used on a remote user’s device.

Native DCV clients are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS, and an HTML5 client is available for browser-based access. Native clients support 4K resolution, multiple monitors, and features including stylus/touchscreen support, USB devices, multi-channel audio, smartcards, and file transferring.

Enterprises use EC2 and Leostream together to provision highly powered end-user machines backed by the flexibility and resiliency of AWS, so their workers have remote access to a performant, secure, elastic architecture. Leostream provides advanced identity management and authentication to ensure the security of data and assets and offers policy-based management and administrative features that simplify IT even for large pools of remote workers, large datasets, and environments combining EC2 and on-prem resources. Leostream also supports nearly all other major display protocols, so its customers can combine DCV with others based on the employee’s task and role.

“This collaboration gives our team more resources to help architect the ideal infrastructure for customers with resource-intensive workloads like media, scientific research, energy, and finance,” said Randy Foster, Leostream VP of Sales and Marketing. “The NICE DCV protocol is an excellent option for giving remote access to engineering, design, editing, analytics, or other advanced applications running in the cloud with an end-user experience that rivals on-premise performance.”

Leostream is the Remote Desktop Access Platform of choice due to its ability to mix and manage on-premises and cloud-based hosting platforms. A single-pane-of-glass administration console powers the Leostream platform, simplifying the management of users, cloud desktops, and IT assets with real-time dashboard access to view usage and environment details, helping to make informed decisions.

Digital.ai unveiled findings from its 2024 Application Security Threat Report, which quantifies and emphasizes the widespread risks facing applications operating beyond corporate firewalls, colloquially termed “in the wild”. The report highlights a surge in application attacks, indicative of cybercriminals exploiting the growing dependence on web, mobile, and desktop applications.

The Application Security Threat report examined data about threats identified from monitoring applications under active protection: the likelihood of an app being attacked rose 8% YoY, with gaming apps and financial services apps facing the highest risk of attack at 76% and 67% respectively. The top reasons for the increase in breached applications:

  • Tool democratization, like reverse-engineering tools in the hands of hackers
  • Increased “jailbreaking” has taken root within the community of hackers
  • The surging use of AI/ML increases the productivity of malware developers

“We’re seeing that the appetite for cybercriminals continues to be insatiable,” said Wing To, General Manager of Intelligent DevOps and Security, Digital.ai. “Threat actors are exploiting AI and low-code technologies to attack a growing number of apps—and benefiting from increased precision. Customer-centric enterprises are prioritizing protective measures for the applications their customers rely on daily.”

2024 also saw a significantly sharper uptick in specialized attacks—attacks that violate an application’s integrity through, for example, a malicious change in application code. The likelihood of an app being run with modified code:

  • iOS based apps grew from 6% to 20% YoY;
  • Android based apps grew from 28% to 63% YoY

Specific to mobile applications, both Android and iPhone attacks are surging; Android apps are more likely to be targeted with environmental attacks (94%) than iPhone apps (70%) due to their Open-Source operating system.

The study found no link between the popularity of an app and frequency of attack.

Survey Methodology

Digital.ai has hundreds of application security customers worldwide who protect over 1 billion instances of applications. The data in this report is anonymized and aggregated global customer data collected over a four-week period from February 1 to February 28, 2024. “Risk,” in this case, is measured from the enterprise creating the application’s perspective. In other words, if 100 enterprises create 100 apps and 58 of those apps experience an attack on one or more instances of that app, the report will state that 58% of apps were under attack.
