Nerdio has announced that its Nerdio Manager for Enterprise Premium edition now supports Azure Stack HCI in Azure Virtual Desktop deployments.

Deploying Azure Virtual Desktop session hosts to on-premises infrastructure via Nerdio Manager for Enterprise allows organizations to automate hybrid deployment and management. It enables organizations to better meet data residency or governance needs and improve the performance and management of hybrid cloud deployments.

“For a variety of reasons, organizations are currently striving to better manage and automate Azure Virtual Desktop while continuing to leverage their on-premises investments,” said Vadim Vladimirskiy, CEO and co-founder, Nerdio. “Nearly every deployment, management and optimization task Nerdio Manager can do in Azure can now be automated in an extended on-premises hyperconverged infrastructure environment. This is an incredibly powerful next step in empowering more organizations to benefit from Azure and cloud based virtual desktop infrastructure.”

The new Azure Stack HCI functionality in Nerdio Manager for Enterprise v4.1 allows organizations to:

  • Integrate with one or several Azure Stack HCI clusters located in corporate data centers.
  • Create, manage, and update hybrid Azure Virtual Desktop host pools with virtual machines (VMs) running on-premises using physical hardware.
  • Create, manage, update, and export desktop images to be used for creation of session host VMs.

VMs are automatically created and managed through the Nerdio Manager interface. Session hosts can be multi-session or single session and advanced features like Nerdio’s scripted actions, monitoring, FSLogix, and scheduled automation are fully supported. Auto-scaling capabilities for on-premises VMs will be coming soon.

Azure Virtual Desktop for Azure Stack HCI is currently in preview by Microsoft. Nerdio is participating in the preview and releasing this new functionality now to propel interest ahead of the Microsoft solution’s general availability and provide the easiest route to enterprise adoption.

There are over 14 additional new features in Nerdio Manager for Enterprise v4.1. Highlighted new features allow organizations to extend Azure API limits in very large Azure Virtual Desktop deployments with thousands of VMs, and the ability to automate deployment of session host VMs onto Azure Dedicated Hosts to enable compute isolation, which can be important in highly secured and compliant environments.

AMD announced new additions to the AMD Radeon™ PRO W6000 Series desktop and mobile workstation graphics lineup, designed to deliver exceptional performance, stability and reliability for professional users, including CAD designers, engineers and office knowledge workers. Hundreds of millions of consumers around the world rely on AMD technology daily to improve how they live, work and play.

The new AMD Radeon PRO W6400 graphics card is built on the high-performance, energy efficient AMD RDNA™ 2 graphics architecture and advanced 6nm manufacturing process technology, with 16MB of high-bandwidth, low-latency AMD Infinity Cache™ memory technology acting as a bandwidth amplifier. Offering an ideal blend of performance and efficiency at an affordable price, the new graphics card is optimized for the requirements of  today’s popular CAD and office productivity applications in a compact design that can be easily added to modern small-form-factor desktops.

Compared to the previous generation, the AMD Radeon PRO W6400 graphics card delivers up to three times higher performance in Autodesk AutoCAD© 2022 during 3D orbit rotational tests in shaded modes. It also offers up to 87 percent higher performance in McNeel Rhino using the Holomark 2 benchmark with mesh, object and model data stress tests. The new graphics card also offers performance gains in typical office applications and workloads, such as videoconferencing, email and web browsing, where reliability and stability are key.

Additions to the AMD Radeon PRO product family also include the AMD Radeon™ PRO W6500M and AMD Radeon™ PRO W6300M GPUs for next-gen professional mobile workstations. The new GPUs are also built on AMD RDNA 2 graphics architecture with 6nm process technology and harness up to 8MB of AMD Infinity Cache memory technology to deliver ultra-high viewport frame rates, dependability and exceptional performance for professional applications.

“Work patterns have changed dramatically over the last year, requiring professional users to work more efficiently and complete projects faster than ever,” said Scott Herkelman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Business Unit at AMD. “The Radeon PRO W6400 is a powerful graphics card that harnesses the award-winning AMD RDNA 2 architecture feature set, enabling not only mainstream CAD professionals to produce incredible and complex designs, but also meeting the demands of today’s office workers who need to edit images, create presentations, collaborate and multitask more than ever. In addition, the new AMD Radeon PRO W6000 Series mobile graphics provide the ideal combination of performance and mobility to drive a range of workloads for professionals on the go.”

High-Performance and Advanced Features

The new additions to the AMD Radeon PRO product family deliver an ideal combination of performance, efficiency, and affordability for mainstream professional users. Key features include:

  • AMD RDNA 2 Architecture: The award-winning AMD RDNA 2 graphics architecture delivers up to 94 percent faster performance over previous generation GCN architecture.
  • AMD Infinity Cache™ Memory Technology: Up to 16MB of last-level data cache (L3) integrated on the GPU die is designed to reduce latency and power consumption, enabling higher performance compared to previous architectural designs.
  • Advanced Features: AMD Radeon PRO W6000 Series graphics offer hardware-accelerated raytracing, remote working capabilities, 8K display support, the latest PCIe® 3.0 and 4.0 high-speed data transfer, VR creator support, HDR Ready support and Quad-buffer stereo – all supported as standard features.
  • Viewport Boost: The dynamic resolution technology is designed to improve frame rates in GPU-limited scenarios. By intelligently lowering resolution only in scenarios where fast in-viewport movement is detected, it can deliver a significant improvement in interactivity without impacting user-perceived image quality.
  • Application Certifications: AMD continues to work with leading professional software application vendors such as Autodesk, Robert McNeel & Associates, and others to help ensure AMD Radeon PRO graphics cards are built and tested to meet exceptional standards, delivering the stability and reliability required by workstation professionals. The list of certified applications can be found here.

Nerdio has announced new backup and disaster recovery features within its Nerdio Manager products. The new capabilities improve the resiliency of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and ensure data protection and continuity from a variety of data loss scenarios.

“As usage of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) continues to grow, it has become a mission critical component in allowing continuous and safe access to corporate applications and data,” said Vadim Vladimirskiy, CEO and co-founder of Nerdio. “The new added powerful backup and disaster recovery capabilities in Nerdio Manager related to major areas of AVD operation, such as the management of desktop images and session hosts, improve the service’s resiliency, ensure business continuity and allow us to help IT teams when they need it most.”

Key backup and disaster recovery features now available in Nerdio Manager include:

  • Active/Active Host Pool Disaster Recovery – When enabled, Nerdio Manager will automatically distribute session host virtual machines (VMs) across two Azure regions. Users will be distributed across VMs in both regions as they log in and FSLogix profiles will be automatically replicated. In case of an Azure region failure, users will continue accessing VMs in the available region, ensuring continuity of data and operations. This feature will be available in Nerdio Manager for MSP in Q1 2022.
  • Desktop Image Backup and Geographic Replication – Nerdio Manager’s built-in desktop image backup functionality allows users to backup images automatically. Users can geo-replicate desktop images through Nerdio’s integration with Azure Compute Gallery to keep desktop images in sync across multiple Azure regions.
  • Support for FSLogix Cloud Cache – Nerdio Manager automatically enables and configures FSLogix Cloud Cache on disaster recovery-enabled host pools. Users’ profiles are asynchronously replicated across multiple storage locations making them available during regional outages. This provides a resilient disaster recovery configuration because if one location becomes unavailable, Cloud Cache will automatically fail over to a secondary location where profiles are accessible.
  • Auto-healing Capabilities – Session host VMs are responsible for the delivery of users’ desktops and apps and must be available for users to be able to connect. Nerdio Manager’s Auto-Heal functionality automatically detects and repairs broken session hosts.

“As enterprises increase adoption of virtual workplace technologies like VDI, ensuring the resilience and recoverability of data is a paramount priority,” said Mark Bowker, Senior Analyst, ESG. “In fact, according to our data, aside from strengthening authentication, business continuity and disaster recovery plans are a top priority to support today’s ‘back to office’ transitions. By supporting active/active replication and adding in features such as built-in desktop image backups, Nerdio is furthering business availability and making AVD virtual desktops a resilient choice for digital workforces everywhere.”

Nerdio Manager extends the native AVD service rather than replacing it like other proprietary VDI management solutions on the market. Through separate products tailored to meeting the needs of Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and enterprises, it delivers over 200 features that the native service lacks to simplify management, ensure efficient operations through automation, and lower compute and storage costs on average between 50-75%.

Additional new features and functionality for both Nerdio Manager products will be unveiled at NerdioCon, Nerdio’s first in-person user and partner conference happening February 21-23, 2022 in Cancun, Mexico. To register, visit www.nerdiocon.com.

Flexxible IT has officially announced the release of FlexxDesktop, a Desktop as a Service (DaaS) solution where edge computing and cloud computing converge. This allows virtual desktops to run anywhere or everywhere. With the end user’s experience at the center, FlexxDesktop offers DaaS on the users’ terms, with no up-front investment, and enables the seamless transition from any platform to any platform, whether the data center or the cloud.

“Flexxible IT has been a leader in the DaaS space since 2008, and we are excited to expand our reach to support customers staying or moving to any vendor or any cloud,” said Sebastian Prat, CEO at Flexxible IT. “We see FlexxDesktop as the future of DaaS, enabling the enterprise to build their own DaaS solution on their terms where they can pay-as-they-go and transition to any vendor or cloud at their pace. It allows the enterprise to choose the vendors they see fit and to migrate seamlessly between them.”

FlexxDesktop is available today in a subscription pricing model, so it allows enterprises to migrate existing environments to any cloud with ease at a cost that is OPEX friendly. Many DaaS vendors lock customers to a single platform or cloud. The cloud may not be feasible for some, and the customer will still need the data center. FlexxDesktop enables DaaS to enhance the digital experience for any end-user through a simplified management architecture built for any cloud or any data center.

“FlexxDesktop enables enterprises to have a choice,” said Pete Downing, CMO at Flexxible IT. “DaaS is complex and FlexxDesktop aims to simplify the day-to-day management as well as give enterprises the choice to use any vendor, their data center, their edge, and any cloud.”

Flexxible IT is giving an overview and highlight on the key features of FlexxDesktop via a webinar on November 3, 2021, at 11:00 AM EST. You can register here.

Lenovo is expanding the portfolio of Lenovo Go accessories from the new sub-brand announced last month. The broad portfolio of purpose-built PC accessories is conceived to address common productivity pain-points such as multitasking on several devices, low battery anxiety when on the move or frustrating audio quality on conference calls.  Designed to inspire and empower users in a new hybrid working world, Lenovo Go accessories offer a one-stop-shop for input, power and audio functionality that help improve efficiency and overall workspace experience.

For example, the Lenovo Go Wireless Multi-Device Mouse, announced last month, is the perfect companion for the multitasking user who frequently switches between devices. Pair up to three devices and effortlessly cycle between them with a push of a button. Remote professionals who constantly move between workspaces at home or the office will relish the Lenovo Go USB-C® Wireless Charging Kit. Operating on a unique Power-by-Contact (PbC) technology, it can wirelessly charge typical 13” and 14” laptops. Simply plug the mat into a 45 to 65-Watt charger and connect the receiver base to a USB Type-C on the laptop. With a wider adoption of collaboration software solutions, many more hours are spent wearing headsets, often not optimized to today’s unified communications platforms. Lenovo Go Wired Speakerphone liberates ears from headset pressure and offers flexibility and excellent sound quality. Perfect for a home office or huddle room, the speakerphone works with Microsoft Teams, includes two omni-directional microphones for beamforming and far-field pickup to improve voice clarity.

Offering a portfolio of remote-first products designed from customer insights, Lenovo Go accessories help users achieve their potential by reducing technology barriers to productivity. The sub-brand will offer a suite of accessories to confront the most common challenges of flexible working:

  • Power: Low battery anxiety is a widespread challenge highly mobile workers face every day. Lenovo Go’s power solutions tackles the concerns with a range of wired and wireless charging solutions. Adding to the Lenovo Go USB-C Laptop Power Bank announced last month is the Lenovo Go USB-C Wireless Charging Kit. Providing freedom of frequent movement between workspace and other locations, the wireless charging kit eliminates the need to disconnect and reconnect a power cord. Capable of charging 13” or 14” notebooks up to 65W, the kit operates through Power by Contact patented technology from Energysquare. Completing the power line-up is the Lenovo Go Wireless Mobile Power Bank. With 10,000 mAh capacity users can simultaneously charge up to 30W of devices, one via wireless Qi and two via USB-C. By eliminating the need for multiple cables and offering power passthrough, the power bank minimizes battery life concerns of highly mobile workers.
  • Input: Enabling dynamic work environments and offering ergonomic designs for maximum productivity, Lenovo Go family is introducing new input devices essential for a variety of workspaces. The Lenovo Go Wireless Multi-Device Mouse announced last month is joined by four additional input devices. Lenovo Go USB-C Wireless Mouse provides vital point and click functionality in a lightweight, travel-friendly solution. The rechargeable battery offers up to three months1 of use with the precision blue optical sensor able to work on almost any surface. A programmable utility button and adjustable DPI sensitivity gives users better control. With many remote workers engaged with their PCs for longer hours, extended use can literally be a major pain-point. The Lenovo Go Wireless Vertical Mouse offers an optimized angle and curvature, with a natural “handshake” position that reduces wrist pressure and forearm strain. Designed in a comfortable UV-coated cork material, it is also easy to wipe and clean. The optical mouse can be wirelessly connected and delivers precise pointing accuracy with up to 2400 dots per inch (DPI) and six programmable buttons for personal configuration. Designed with similar human-inspired forms, the Lenovo Go Wireless Split Keyboard brings ultra-responsive tactile key feeling with vertical tenting for more natural typing and a negative tilt to reduce wrist stress. Like the Ergonomic Mouse, the keyboard is treated to a UV-coated cork material palm rest. Also available is highly portable, wirelessly connected and rechargeable Lenovo Go Wireless Numeric Keypad, perfect for number crunchers and spreadsheet wizards.
  • Audio: The Lenovo Go Wired Speakerphone, that works with Microsoft Teams, frees ears from prolonged headset wearing, however open office environments, public locations and juggling family and work life in the home do not lend themselves to speakers. Lenovo Go includes a selection of headset and headphone offerings that meet various audio needs for conference and video calling. Lenovo Go Wired ANC Headset and Wireless ANC Headset deliver the same outstanding on-ear audio experience in two different packages. One is wired via USB Type-C or Type-A, and the other is wireless with dual Bluetooth connectivity allowing simultaneous pairing across two devices. Alternatively, it can be connected by USB Type-C and will be charged at the same time. Both headsets work with Microsoft Teams and offer advanced active noise cancellation with a customizable audio experience through software. Lenovo Go ANC In-ear Headphones bring the same high-quality active noise cancelling audio experience in a highly portable in-ear package, yet users can switch to an ambient “talk-through” mode at the tap of a button. Designed to work universally with any USB Type-C device, the in-ear headphones include in-line buttons for quick control of playback and calls, and three sizes of silicone ear tips are included for the best fit.

Full set of Lenovo Go accessories

Managing personalized settings can often be a chore, especially if it requires opening multiple applications to adjust different criteria. Lenovo Go Central software helps users manage and control compatible accessories from a single application. Adjust mouse settings or manage audio configurations for headsets are easily achieved through the intuitive interface. Travelling long distance or just between home and office locations can be a frustrating experience with often needed accessories. Throwing a smartphone, headset, mouse and power bank into a carry case along with a laptop can cause damage with scratched screens, split cables or broken buttons. Storing essential accessories in the sleekly designed Lenovo Go Tech Accessories Organizer protects them with compression-molded compartments and splash-proof zippers. With dedicated sections for mouse, power bank, ear buds and power cable, the organizer also includes space for a smartphone and pens, so everything has an easy to reach place.

Lenovo™ announced the latest additions to its ThinkPad™ and ThinkVision™ portfolios. The redesigned and re-engineered ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 delivers more power, better connectivity and rich configuration options in response to customer demand.  Powered by up to the latest 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 H-Series vPro® processors and available with the latest NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ Laptop GPUs, up to 64GB DDR4 memory and dual Solid-State Drive (SSD) support, the X1 Extreme Gen 4 is also offered with optional 5G Wireless WAN1 for high-speed access to cloud data. With 74 percent of companies planning to permanently shift to more remote working, users need an exceptional collaboration experience. X1 Extreme Gen 4 delivers in spades, thanks to edge-to-edge 16-inch display options up to 4K along with Dolby Vision® support, a new FHD webcam, dual noise-cancelling microphones and a user-facing Dolby Atmos® Speaker System that is 20 percent larger than previous generation. All this performance wrapped in a legendary ThinkPad durable package that weighs less the 1.81kg (four pounds)2!

Lenovo is also introducing the ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 and L13 Yoga Gen 2 powered by the latest AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series Mobile Processors. Designed to offer value without compromise, the L13 series help users work more efficiently with features focused on productivity and security. To complete the picture addressing new hybrid working styles, we are also launching an all-new ThinkVision M15 mobile monitor that delivers second screen flexibility in a highly portable package, and the ThinkVision T24m-20 display and MC50 webcam that together offer a thoughtfully designed high-quality affordable video conferencing solution.

The fourth generation ThinkPad X1 Extreme is designed as a powerhouse to delight digital creatives and prosumers who seek supreme power for work and entertainment with up to 11th Gen Intel Core i9 H-series processors with optional Intel vPro platform designed to deliver high performance, protected by ThinkShield for enterprise-class security features, vivid displays and advanced mobile graphics options. Thin at just 17.7mm and under 1.81kg (four pounds)2, the X1 Extreme Gen 4 exudes quality with multiple layers of reinforced carbon fiber. Extreme performance needs maximum thermal efficiency so that users can push their creative boundaries without worrying about overheating. Lenovo engineers developed three new complementary cooling systems for the NVIDIA RTX configured models. A hybrid cooling system uses both traditional heat pipes as well as a large vapor chamber to keep intensive graphics running optimally. A keyboard air intake increases the cool air flow through the fans while maintaining spill resistance. Finally, a dual bypass design allows air to flow over the top and bottom of the cooling system to improve thermal insulation. These elements offer a glimpse of Lenovo’s relentless pursuit in perfecting the engineering processes that help further protect the state-of-the-art internal components.

Entertainment and Unified Communications are further enhanced by a Dolby Atmos Speaker System which fires crystal clear sound towards the user, and far field microphones ensure they are clearly heard.
  • Security and ease of use experience are not forgotten. The fingerprint reader is integrated into the power button for easier sign on through Windows Hello™, a larger 115mm touchpad caters to users who prefer this control method to the legendary TrackPoint and rapid access keys allow quick answer and hang up of audio and video calls.

Woman reviewing content on ThinkVision M15 mobile monitor while sipping coffee

An excellent companion to the X1 Extreme is the new ThinkVision M15 mobile monitor. Weighing just 860 grams (1.9 pounds)2, the M15 almost doubles the X1 Extreme viewing space with an extra 15.6 inches of FHD screen real-estate, easily connected via a USB Type-C cable which can also offer power pass-through for an elegant one cable solution5. It can even connect to a compatible smartphone with a full-function USB Type-C port.

Whether adding a convenient second display in a home office, or comfortably sharing content with colleagues in meeting spaces, ThinkVision M15 is suitable for extended use thanks to an ergonomic height adjustment stand and features TÜV Rheinland® low blue light technology to reduce eye strain. What’s more, it comes with a protective sleeve so it can conveniently slip into a carry case with a laptop.

Lenovo ThinkVision T24m-20 monitor

If a larger fixed monitor is needed for a dedicated workspace, the ThinkVision T24m-20 is not only a 23.8-inch FHD monitor but is an effective one cable USB Type-C docking solution that supports data, video/audio, ethernet signal transfer and up to 90W power delivery to compatible devices. It also supports more advanced functions such as daisy chain for a multi monitor configuration and a mirrored power button can turn on a compatible connected PC. ThinkVision T24m-20 also features the Lenovo Display Control Centre software, called ThinkColor, that helps users seamlessly multitask and make advanced screen adjustments through single or multi-display windows in a simple point-and-click user interface.

Designed to fit any current ThinkVision P or T series monitor6, the new ThinkVision MC50 Monitor Webcam is however perfectly suited to transform the T24m-20 into an affordable video conferencing hub. The FHD 1080p webcam with built-in dual noise cancelling microphones delivers great audio-visual quality and has a clever smart traffic light that illuminates a red light on top of the webcam when the user is in a conference call, thereby informing colleagues or family members that the user is “busy”!

ThinkVision MC50 Monitor Webcam

The MC50 is easy to use with plug-and-play USB connection, has a tilt and swivel function so only the camera needs to be repositioned, not the whole monitor, and includes a physical camera shutter and an anti-theft attachment for added security.

ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 2

Finally, Lenovo is expanding its ThinkPad L series portfolio with two new additions powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Mobile Processors with AMD Radeon™ Graphics and PRO versions available. Boosting productivity with flexible docking options and Modern Standby, the black or silver L13 laptops include built-in ThinkShield security solutions for added peace of mind. Enterprise-level biometrics like Windows Hello facial recognition7, a Match on Chip Fingerprint Reader, along with a physical webcam shutter and AMD security features, all combine for enhanced data and device protection.

The ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 2 is our first Windows 10 convertible laptop powered by the latest AMD Ryzen Mobile processors. Delivering the speed and responsiveness needed in today’s work-from-anywhere world, the 13.3-inch L13 Yoga Gen 2 delivers multimode versatility for up to 10.6 hours per day4 from its 46Whr battery. The optional Integrated Pen is designed to work on the touch-enabled display in the familiar ways’ users do, with more accurate write, draw, scroll and swipe functions.

The ThinkPad L13 Gen 2 delivers a powerful, enjoyable and secure clamshell laptop experience. With the same core components as the L13 Yoga and up to 10.8 hours of battery life4, the L13 Gen 2 is an ideal choice for today’s hybrid workstyles.

BMC, announced several new offerings and integrations within the BMC Automated Mainframe Intelligence (AMI) and BMC Compuware portfolios designed to modernize and streamline mainframe application development and delivery, while also increasing uptime and accelerating threat detection.

This latest release transforms mainframe management across the BMC Compuware ISPW, BMC Compuware Topaz, BMC Compuware File-AID, BMC AMI Ops Insight, BMC AMI SQL Performance, and BMC AMI Security solutions to enable users to:

  • Build, analyze, test, deploy, and manage mainframe applications quickly, efficiently, and with precision through an expanded cross-platform DevOps toolchain;
  • Reduce and potentially eliminate how long it takes to diagnose a problem with intelligent, automated, probable cause analysis; and
  • Detect and respond more quickly to security threats by uniting mainframe security and IT Operations workflows to make threat events visible, assignable, and trackable.

Mainstream Mainframe Development with an Enterprise DevOps Approach
BMC has completed the integration of Compuware, a BMC company, to create the BMC Compuware suite of tools that build upon the existing BMC AMI DevOps offerings. Now integrated with Visual Studio Code, a popular development tool, the BMC Compuware ISPW solution allows developers to edit source code and compile it on the mainframe with a simple right click. The BMC Compuware Topaz solution comes with a new command line interface and multiple application programming interfaces that give developers flexibility in how they connect to the mainframe, lessen dependence on specialized skillsets, and extend the DevOps toolchain. Finally, developers can also experience dynamically reduced search times when reviewing billions of transactions and log files with the new BMC Compuware File-AID 21 solution’s release.

BMC Compuware ISPW SolutionThe BMC Compuware ISPW solution integrates with Visual Studio Code to enable developers to compile changed code on the mainframe with a right click.

“This move by BMC has sent a clear signal that DevOps has shifted from the broad adoption phase to the massive adoption phase. DevOps has become table stakes for every enterprise; whether they operate in the cloud or on a mainframe, they need to adopt DevOps to remain relevant, let alone be competitive. Yet adopting DevOps for many organizations, especially those with mainframes, has been a challenge,” wrote Christopher Condo, Chris Gardner, and Diego Lo Giudice at Forrester Research.1 “…If DevOps doesn’t scale on mainframes, too, where modernization of the core is an impediment, core will all move to the cloud. The bet of BMC and Compuware is to scale DevOps on the mainframe like any other platform.”

To support DevOps processes and increase code quality, the BMC AMI SQL Performance for Db2® solution provides the ability to shift left the quality control of Db2 SQL through a Jenkins plugin that helps prevent SQL from violating company standards and impacting production environments. The solution interrogates static and dynamic SQL in its current environment and against target production environments. This ensures SQL coding standards and performance issues are reported and resolved prior to moving to the next step in the route-to-live process.

Move from Reactive to Real-Time Proactive Problem Resolution
The BMC AMI Ops Insight solution shifts systems management from reactive to proactive mode with automated intelligent diagnostic capabilities that now provide probable cause. Users receive the earliest possible notification of system degradation, with fewer false positives, as well as the ability to pinpoint the issue. By getting to the possible cause faster, BMC AMI Ops Insight provides more time to remediate with actionable insights.

BMC AMI Ops Insight SolutionThe BMC AMI Ops Insight solution helps reduce and potentially eliminate how long it takes to diagnose mainframe systems problems with intelligent automated, probable cause analysis.

Unite Security and Operations Workflows
The BMC AMI Security offering, which protects against vulnerabilities, malicious actions, and data theft, now integrates with the BMC Helix ITSM solution. If the BMC AMI Security solution detects a threat, this new integration will automatically generate a security incident in BMC Helix ITSM, providing IT Operations teams with greater visibility through a single, real-time data feed and a well-defined process so they can act, track, and respond to threats and events faster.

In addition to its integration with BMC Helix ITSM, the new BMC AMI Security release continues to integrate with a wide number of enterprise security information and event management solutions and thus provides more ways to assign and rapidly investigate events, shorten mean-time-to-remediation, and make mainframes more secure.

“Mainframes are an essential part of our customers’ digital transformation strategies. With tools that transform mainframe management, we allow our clients to better embrace DevOps practices and get the most value out of their investments to accelerate innovation,” said John McKenny, SVP and General Manager, Intelligent Z Optimization and Transformation at BMC. “We continue to help our customers achieve operational resiliency, while automating and minimizing manual tasks to free them up to become an Autonomous Digital Enterprise.”

IGEL, provider of the next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces, announced new features for users of Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) which further support collaborative and productive experiences for remote users. Coinciding with the release of the Zoom Plugin for WVD, IGEL now enables IGEL OS-powered WVD clients to benefit from this new Zoom capability. Additional new features include support for FabulaTech Webcam for Remote Desktop and ThinPrint’s ezeep cloud printing.

“Remote work, and particularly work-from-home, is here to stay and IGEL is committed to supporting users’ needs to work and communicate in a collaborative and productive way – no matter where they are,” said Casey Cheyne, Vice President of Cloud Alliances for IGEL. “IGEL is demonstrating that, with the rapid adoption of WVD, we are right there to support WVD environments with the user experience and tools people need to remain engaged and efficient. Support for the new Zoom Plugin for WVD, FabulaTech Webcam and ezeep cloud printing, is just further proof of our rapid innovation to help meet the evolving needs of today’s digital enterprise.”

For WVD environments that want to adopt the Zoom Media Plugin, IGEL OS offers integrated support for the video-first unified communications platform. This helps to improve the end-user experience and increases performance by locally processing essential real-time communications components to create an immersive, high-fidelity Zoom unified communications platform within the virtual WVD environment.

“Together, Zoom and IGEL are working to better support the collaboration needs of remote workers,” said Simon Booth, Product Architect for Zoom Video Communications, Inc. “We have been impressed by IGEL’s rapid support of our technology for cloud workspaces and look forward to powering more efficient and productive video communications for WVD users.”

In addition to offering integrated support for the Zoom Plugin for WVD, IGEL OS has also been enhanced to support additional productivity solutions including:

  • FabulaTech USB for Remote Desktop and Webcam for Remote Desktop. The integration of FabulaTech solutions with IGEL OS powers secure access to local USB devices in a remote Windows session as well as supporting the use of local webcams during a remote Windows session.
  • ThinPrint ezeep for simple, secure cloud printing. The integrated solution enables remote workers to print from the cloud without using local resources so that sensitive data stays encrypted in the local print queue where it may otherwise be vulnerable to attacks.

Zoom, FabulaTech and ThinPrint ezeep are members of the IGEL Ready Program which opens up IGEL’s core enterprise software for any technology partner to integrate with and validate their products. For more information, visit: https://www.igel.com/ready
