Veritas Technologies, the leader in enterprise data protection, announced the next evolution of Veritas InfoScale, the company’s leading software-defined infrastructure availability solution, that will enable customers to deploy InfoScale as containers in native Kubernetes platforms, including Red Hat OpenShift. Native deployment will make it easier to provide InfoScale’s high availability, persistent storage and storage optimization for stateful Kubernetes critical workloads.

“Containerization is revolutionizing the data center, allowing applications to burst and shrink their processing capacity to reduce costs and deliver scalability,” said Karthik Ramamurthy, vice president of product management at Veritas. “However, many organizations are hesitant to bring the benefits of containerization to mission critical applications that have historically relied on persistent storage. The Kubernetes-native deployment of InfoScale will deliver the features organizations need to migrate their most important applications into environments like OpenShift with confidence. This is a game changer for companies that want to take the training wheels off their Kubernetes deployments and realize the benefits where they really matter.”

The evolution will begin with InfoScale 8, which will be available later this year and will enable enterprise customers and DevOps engineers to deploy the following InfoScale features as containers:

  • Software-defined persistent volume storage classes
  • Dynamic and static persistent storage provisioning
  • Non-disruptive scaling of persistent volumes
  • Non-disruptive migration of persistent volumes
  • REST APIs for third party integration
  • Persistent volume snapshots
  • Container lifecycle management

InfoScale 8 will also be the first time the product is available as a Red Hat certified container application and Red Hat OpenShift Certified Operator available in the Red Hat Ecosystem Catalog with single-click deployment.

“As containers and cloud-native applications become more crucial to enterprise digital transformation, our customers are seeking expanded choice in the technologies that support these environments and workloads,” said Joe Fernandes, senior vice president, Platforms Business Group at Red Hat. “Veritas InfoScale 8 adds a certified option for customers that want additional layers of resiliency and storage optimization for their OpenShift environments. We’re pleased to collaborate with Veritas as part of our broad partner ecosystem, helping our customers to select the solutions that best meet their unique needs, all certified on the industry’s leading enterprise Kubernetes platform.”

This announcement builds on other recent InfoScale and Veritas NetBackup updates to support containerization, making Veritas the most comprehensive data protection provider across physical, virtual, cloud and container environments.

Today Anchore, Inc., the leading experts in continuous security and compliance for containers, announced the launch of a new partner program to speed customers’ digital transformation and reduce risks by automating security and compliance checks earlier in the development lifecycle.

The program launches worldwide with existing partners such as GitHub, GitLab, Atlassian, CloudBees, Red Hat, Microsoft, Carahsoft, and many others. The program will bring together Anchore and partners to help companies and government agencies build DevSecOps toolchains and processes to meet their business and mission objectives.

“As software delivery increasingly moves to containers and cloud-native technologies, organizations must fundamentally change their approach to security and compliance. They can’t wait to fix security and compliance until the end of the software development lifecycle, but instead must shift left by continually checking the software applications and remediating issues earlier in the process,” remarked Saïd Ziouani, Anchore CEO and Cofounder. “With this new partner program, we’re formalizing our strategic relationships to create the flexible and integrated DevSecOps solutions that enterprises and government agencies have been requesting.”

Anchore’s new partner program has three categories:

  • Solution Providers, such as systems integrators, managed services providers, and security/compliance firms who provide clients with a complete end-to-end solution for continuous security and compliance across the software development lifecycle through to production environments.
  • Channel Partners, such as value added resellers (VARs), who interact with clients and Anchore to scope deployment and enable the procurement of technologies needed for a complete continuous security and compliance solution.
  • Technology Partners who integrate with Anchore to create compelling DevSecOps technologies to fuel innovative solutions for customers.

Supporting Partner Quotes:

“As GitHub continues to focus on building the best experience for developers, it’s critical to embed security into their workflow. With the Anchore GitHub Action, developers are able to surface container security findings directly through the GitHub code scanning UI. This empowers teams to ship more secure code, faster, and all within the native GitHub user experience,” said John Leon, VP of Business Development, GitHub.

“Red Hat’s joint work with Anchore at the US Department of Defense has driven technology and services innovation such as hardened Red Hat UBI images, Anchore’s Red Hat OpenShift Operator Certification, and joint DevSecOps services expertise,” said Lars Herrmann, Senior Director of Technology Partnerships, Red Hat. “With Red Hat Marketplace, we are making it easier for customers to find and purchase tools like Anchore that are tested, certified and supported on Red Hat OpenShift, and we’ve removed operational barriers to deploying and managing these technologies on Kubernetes-native infrastructure.”

“We are excited to be included in Anchore’s new partner program,” said Natalie Gregory, Vice President of the team that manages Anchore at Carahsoft, which serves as Anchore’s Master Government Aggregator®. “Our Carahsoft team is committed to providing the public sector with the leading solutions to build out their DevSecOps pipelines, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership with Anchore under this program to better serve our government customers and reseller partners seeking to integrate security and compliance into their development processes.”

Cisco has announced the intent to acquire Portshift, a privately held company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Portshift is focused on building application security solutions that span a large portion of the lifecycle of cloud-native applications, from development and policy enforcement to vulnerability management and run-time protection.

Portshift’s team brings cloud-native application security capabilities and expertise for containers and service meshes for Kubernetes environments to Cisco, allowing the company to move toward the delivery of security for all phases of the application development lifecycle.

The acquisition of Portshift represents Cisco’s focus on the next wave of innovation by anticipating, investing in and incubating new technologies that we can scale and take to market. Through Cisco’s Emerging Technologies and Incubation (ET&I) group, Cisco incubates and advances new and emerging technologies that address Cisco’s customers’ most challenging enterprise IT issues. Application Security is one of the initial focus areas of ET&I.

“Today, the application security space is highly fragmented with many vendors addressing only part of the problem. The Portshift team is building capabilities that span a large portion of the lifecycle of the cloud-native application. They bring cloud native application security capabilities and expertise for containers and service meshes for Kubernetes environments to Cisco, which will allow us to move toward the delivery of security for all phases of the application development lifecycle.” – Liz Centoni, Senior Vice President, Emerging Technologies and Incubation, Cisco (in a blog post)

When the acquisition closes in the first half of Cisco’s FY21, the Portshift team will join Cisco’s ET&I group.
